Mailcraft Studio FAQ
Direct answers about the Email Marketing Starter Kit, Brand Wizard, Content Wizard, ESP integration, and purchases.
How do I get started after I download the Starter Kit?
Brand the pack once with Brand Wizard, then fill one layout in Content Wizard and paste the HTML into your ESP. You can also edit a single HTML file by hand: extract the zip, open the matching campaign file, swap copy and images, host images on HTTPS, and send a test before your full list.
Do I need to know HTML to use these templates?
A little HTML familiarity helps, but you can update most text and images without writing code. Styles are inlined and commented. Use Brand Wizard for pack-wide colors and logos, and Content Wizard for campaign copy.
What’s the difference between Brand Wizard and Content Wizard?
Brand Wizard sets look and feel (logo, colors, buttons, footer identity) and can apply those tokens to a template zip. Content Wizard fills headings, body, CTAs, and images for one layout at a time. Best order: brand first, then content.
Should I test before I send to my list?
Yes, always. Send tests to Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail at minimum. For high-stakes campaigns, use Litmus or Email on Acid. Templates are pre-tested, but your images, merge tags, and ESP can still introduce quirks.
How are Mailcraft HTML templates structured?
Each template uses a 600px table-based layout with modular sections marked by HTML comments (for example Component start Header). Editable regions use data-element attributes so Brand Wizard and Content Wizard can target the right nodes. Typical sections include header, hero or product block, content/CTAs, and a CAN-SPAM-ready footer.
Can I change colors and fonts to match my brand?
Yes. Define tokens in Brand Wizard and apply them to your zip, or search for hex values in the HTML for one-off edits. Export Design Rules so your team shares one brand reference. Font family is set in Brand Wizard; per-layout sizes are in Content Wizard under Template typography.
Will these emails work on mobile?
Yes. Templates use responsive, mobile-first patterns with fluid widths and stacked columns. Still send a phone test. Your ESP and image sizes can affect real devices.
Why do my buttons look wrong in Outlook?
Outlook desktop uses a different rendering engine than most clients. Keep the VML fallback blocks in the HTML. Those bulletproof buttons are what make CTAs look consistent. Don’t strip them when editing or after Brand Wizard apply.
Why is there extra spacing in Outlook?
Avoid margins on table rows. Use padding on td cells instead. Mailcraft templates follow this pattern; reintroducing margins when editing by hand is a common cause of Outlook gaps.
Why aren’t my images showing?
Use absolute HTTPS URLs. Relative paths break in almost every ESP. Host assets on your ESP CDN or a reliable HTTPS server, and keep logos lean (under ~100 KB).
How do I apply my brand to a whole zip of templates?
Open Brand Wizard for the Email Marketing Starter Kit, fill the token steps, then on Review & export upload your kit zip and click Apply brand. Download the branded package. It includes your Design Rules file.
My colors didn’t change in the downloaded HTML
Confirm you clicked Apply brand (not only Export Design Rules), uploaded your Starter Kit zip, and opened the files from the new download, not the original unzipped pack.
Import says few or zero tokens matched
Use a Mailcraft-exported Design Rules file. Heavily edited or incomplete markdown may skip sections. Reset defaults, then re-import, or fill fields manually. Prefer a fresh export from Brand Wizard.
Where does the Brand Wizard save my progress?
In your browser only (localStorage). Nothing is uploaded to a server. Clearing site data or using Reset defaults wipes those values, so keep an exported Design Rules file as backup.
Can I reset Brand Wizard to the starter defaults?
Yes. Click Reset defaults, then confirm in the modal. That replaces checklist progress and token fields with Starter Kit starter values.
How do I unlock the Brand and Content Wizards after purchase?
Wizards are for buyers only. Go to Unlock wizards (or follow the link on your purchase success page), enter the email and order number from your Lemon Squeezy receipt, and access lasts 30 days in this browser. Files still arrive by email from Lemon Squeezy; unlocking only gates the online wizards.
How do I fill campaign copy without editing HTML by hand?
Use Content Wizard: pick the layout, edit fields, upload the matching HTML, then download the filled file. Toggle Shown / Hidden in email to drop optional blocks for this send.
Can I use the Content Wizard on branded HTML?
Yes, and that is the recommended path. Apply brand tokens first, then upload that branded HTML in Content Wizard so copy updates keep your colors and logo. Content Wizard does not restyle the email.
Content Wizard download is disabled or asks me to upload first
Upload the template .html for the layout you are editing before clicking Download filled .html. The wizard merges your fields into that source file.
Content Wizard says “This file looks like…” on upload
The HTML hooks don’t match the selected template. Switch to the suggested layout in the sidebar, or upload the file named for the current template.
A section still appears though I hid it in Content Wizard
Confirm the field shows Hidden in email, re-download, and open the new file. Some structural spacers may remain. If a whole block still shows, note the template name and field label when you contact support.
Can I edit multiple templates at once in Content Wizard?
Not in one pass. Finish and download one layout, then choose the next template from All templates.
Which email platforms can I use these with?
Any ESP that accepts custom HTML, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Braze, and Customer.io. Paste the full HTML, update image URLs, and swap merge tags for your platform’s syntax.
How do I paste Mailcraft HTML into my ESP?
Paste the full branded and filled HTML into your ESP template editor. Upload images to your ESP CDN with absolute HTTPS URLs, replace unsubscribe placeholders with your ESP merge tags, and send a proof to Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail before launch.
How do I set up unsubscribe links?
Replace footer placeholders like {{unsubscribe_url}} with your ESP’s merge tag (for example Klaviyo or Mailchimp unsubscribe tags). Never hard-code a static unsubscribe URL.
Are these templates CAN-SPAM compliant?
They include the right placeholders for physical address, company name, and unsubscribe, but you must fill in real business details and wire correct merge tags. Compliance depends on your completed footer and list practices.
Will these templates hurt my deliverability?
Clean HTML alone doesn’t determine inbox placement. Keep a healthy text/image balance, host images on reputable domains, avoid huge file sizes, and maintain list hygiene. Authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) still matters more than layout.
How do downloads work after I purchase?
After checkout, Lemon Squeezy emails your receipt. Save the zip locally. If the files are missing, contact us with the email you used at checkout and your receipt.
Can I use templates for client projects?
Yes, for agencies and freelancers building client campaigns. You may not redistribute raw template files as a competing product or resell the Starter Kit itself. One license covers your organization’s use.
What if I need a refund?
If templates don’t meet the documented compatibility standards and we can’t resolve it, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a review. Digital product terms are covered in our Refund Policy.
